For a "realistic" BR, these new m4's have some pretty stupid lack of recoil. The fact that these guns are in the game, along with Katiba and Magpul Masada and other no recoil full auto guns really throws the entire balance off the game out the window if you ask me.
There is absolutely no reason to risk looting any crate drops anymore, because the only useful items in there are the lvl5 vests and helmets, which are not guaranteed to spawn. The crate guns are just inferior to a regular ass m4 in almost every situation.
KSVK, AWM, and any other bolt action guns are utterly useless against the m4, a gun which can be found in every other building. You cannot find anyone that can spray this accurately at you from such long distances. Your screen is shaking so hard that its impossible to properly fire back. Combine that with the insane knockback in the scopes you get now from sidestepping with bolt actions, the ridiculously long reload speed and the fact that you almost cant see where the bullets land even if you hold the reload is really bad.
Stop lowering individual values on single guns and start thinking about some overall gameplay balance. The recoil alone is not the problem, low recoil guns can be fine, just look at the Mk16 SV.
This mod needs a gunplay rebalance, not an m4 recoil nerf.
I think it's just about as good as last seasons G36 (has been nerfed now - this was before https://streamable.com/ayhee), if a majority of players agree it should be nerfed then i'm fine with it, but I don't they will. With magpul gone and G36 nerfed we need a good 5.56 replacement.
I didnt know the Magpul was removed, thats good I guess. But now you have a gun in the game that is just as OP and everyone can get it all the time if they want. So overall I would say thats still worse than before. I disagree with you on the Katiba, I think its too strong, but maybe not as bad as the m4.
The problem is that snipers only start getting stronger than m4s if you are atleast 200 or 300 meters away from your opponent. Check the average distance at which kills happen in BR and you will notice that almost all of the time, youre better off with an m4 (Which I explained in my first post).
Regarding the example, just take the one I wrote above. M4 is too strong and everyone can find it quickly, which means there is no point in risking anything to loot a crate, because that gear doesnt hold up in comparison. Losing the thrill of looting dangerous crates makes the game more boring overall.
Nerfing the m4 would indirectly buff all crates and make the game more thrilling and enjoyable to play. Now think about how good it could be, if you dont just isolate the m4 and try to fix it, but look at the whole mod and try to rebalance with everything in mind.
As for snipers, of course they are stronger at ranges lol. like what do you expect that's how snipers work? see what you do when you get a sniper is position yourself so that most of your fights are long range, and in a team game scenario have your team mates covereing the close distances with AR's, thats kinda just how the game works. The average kill distance is irrelevent as 99% of them kill's are not with snipers, your job as a sniper is play at range. Average kill for lee's and most snipers is 200m+
And with the buff every other gun idea, that would be great but remember this game does not have an entire full time development team, that sounds like a lot of work for ofot.
I don't get all this "crates are not worth it" i would always take crate weapons over 5.56, even the FAL and ABR which have high recoil, purely because they 1 tap HS with any helmet.
I think we just fundamentally disagree on how to balance this mod then.
Sniper rifle kills happen on 200m+, because thats the only distance at which they can even remotely compete with the OP ARs.
If you can agree that the m4 is too strong as it is right now, then making it more rare doesn't fix the issue, it just lessens it. I think you should look for solutions, not bandaids. Making normal drop weapons more rare just means some people will get lucky and others will get unlucky while looting the same amount of buildings. Do you think its fun to run into someone that has a much, much better gun just because they got lucky.
Cratedrops work around this issue, because everyone in the server has a chance to loot it.
At the end of the day, I think you guys make up for the majority of the activity in this mod, so if that's what you want, go ahead. I still believe it is shortsighted to buff and nerf guns with this approach.
I think we do. I don't think snipers should be the weapon of choice in any CQC situation, this is literally the purpose of snipers. But they are still 1 shot kill, so if you hit your shot they will still win irregardless of range.
And I don't think M4 is too strong, it's the best 5.56 in the game right now but it's no better than the magpul was. And Bren/M16 Carbine/MK16 SV or Foregrip are not that much worse.
Getting unlucky when looting buildings is by design, its the nature of BR and how random loot inherently works. If you want a completly balanced game then games like CSGO or Siege might be for you. Running into someone who has a better has been part of this game since day 1. Crate drops don't even change this much as most people in the game won't see it (unless its late game of course).
